Happy Father's Day

For Andrew:

I'm posting this everywhere on the internet because I don't when or for how long you'll be able to check online and I wanted to make sure the bases are covered. Just in case you get to read both of them I'll make them each a little different.

I tried to take a "natural" portrait of us for you and well, it didn't go as planned. . .

Me: "OK, guys. Come over here and look natural"

Me: "Alright, this is good but let's try turning so daddy can see your faces"

Andi: (ooh. a pine cone)
Arlie: "Do you like this pose, mommy?"
Me: (oh boy) Uh, why don't we try something else?

"Interpretive dance it is!"

Happy Father's Day to the best husband and father these girls could ever ask for!

Grease The Kid

I always know the worst trouble is happening when I don't hear anything. It's kind of hard to see what's going on in the first 2 pictures. . . keep scrolling. . .

Aha, right? Now if you scroll back up you can see more clearly the sheen of grease on my sweet baby. Arlie apparently thought Andi needed some moisturizing.

The Zoo

I took the girls to the zoo a few days ago and we had a blast! When we first arrived there was a lot of buses parked out front and my heart kind of sank but as we were walking down to the front entrance I noticed the school kids were being gathered up to get back on the buses. Whew!

Arlie of course loved feeding the goats
Andi? Not quite as enthused.

Arlie's favorite: The walrus

Andi's favorite? The fish.

They both enjoyed chasing the pufferfish up and down the length of the aquarium.

Running in a field!

I'm really surprised how much Andi walked. She hardly sat in her stroller, she much preferred pushing it.

Who's on exhibit here?

Andi Has Eyebrows

I was putting on make-up and I usually let Andi play in the basket since it keeps her quiet for a minute or two. She got a little mark that kind of looked like a drawn-on eyebrow so I amped it up a bit.

You should have seen the look on Arlie's face when she came home and found Andi with eyebrows. She was suspicious and fascinated all at the same time.

Backyard Update

Our backyard is really coming together. There's definitely a lot more work (and $$$) to be put into it but it's so exciting see our hard work come together into a space that we want to spend time in.

Our shed actually looks legit now. We'd love to add some windows and make at least half of it a potting shed but that's a different project for another year.

The new patio furniture set. Fingers crossed it survives the sun and water better than the last set did. And we accidentally ordered way too much dirt so the berm is now about double the width as it is in these photos. Luckily we have some stuff to transplant in from other parts of the yard.
Even the ol' firepit got a little upgrade. We were going to add flagstone or gravel around it but I kind of like the Adirondack chairs in the grass. Very lake house-ish.

Here we are eating some delicous BBQ. Andrew should have slapped the glass of Ouzo out of my hand while he had the chance.

Arlie's outfit of choice for assembling the chairs. She makes me laugh.
