Road Trip
Just a few random pictures of our trip to Southern California. We didn't take a lot of photos since the regular lense on my camera is broken and we only had the sooooper zoom one. Well, we also brought the point and shoot. But we've become spoiled and that one just isn't as much fun to use. Heh.
The first photo is the girls and I getting in a little exercise in a parking lot. Both the girls did a great job in the car but anytime we stopped we were sure to get them jumping and playing. It felt good to do the same ourselves.
The second picture is from the Northern California coast. Another place where we stopped to get out and stretch our legs a bit. It's hard to tell in the photos but the surf was pretty large. Andi is afraid of the sand, just like Arlie was. Is it a kid thing? Or just our kids thing?
Just when we couldn't handle another burger in the car we found a nice little pizza place in Sonoma county. I think it was called Mary's Pizza Shack. I like how Andrew, Arlie, and Andi are all taking their food so seriously. I think we were all kind of relieved to be out of the car for a bit.
And the last picture is the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. One thing we found about driving in California is the signage. . . leaves a lot to be desired. Either the sign is RIGHT at where you are supposed to be turning (no warning), or AFTER. Like "hey, good job you, looks like you guessed correctly!" Or, "bummer, guess you wanted the other way, huh?". Grrrr. Anyway, right after the toll we picked the wrong fork. And ended up in downtown San Francisco during rush hour. I was REALLY REALLY thankful I was not in a manual shift vehicle. Those hills are no joke or exaggeration. We lost about 2 hours because of that freaking fork in the road.
We ended up having to skip Monterey (and the aquarium) because of the delay. Sad. But we did still get to the Redwood forest, which will be the next post.
