So, recovering our dining rooms chairs was a project that I planned, set the date for, and then somehow ended up on the sideline cheering Andrew on as he did it for me. I highly recommend this method of getting projects done.
I had bought this fabric at the thrift store (actually a duvet cover, but no linen I'd want in bed with me. It's coarse and thick and basically perfect for an upholstery job). Andrew took the seats off the chairs and peeled the fabric off one of them for a pattern. I did cut the fabric! Into large squares! Contribution!
He used a staple gun (not pictured, obvs) to attach the fabric.
As he finished, I ran to Target for some ScotchGard (more contributing!) but they didn't have any (attempted contribution!) When I got home our chairs looked like this:
I didn't take any "before" photos because the stainage was beyond embarassing. The fabric protectant on the white fabric had given up with a whimper in the face of two small children and started absorbing every little drip and drop.
I also bought a chair from the thrift store for $10 so I spent some time fitting it into our existing setup. We have a ton of work still to do in our house but after 5 years it's coming along. I feel like I have this tiny window while Andi is old enough to be entertained without mommy but before the baby comes that I'm finally going to get this house decorated. Wish me luck!
