Leavenworth 2012
First off. We had booked a trip to Leavenworth this year on the Snow Train. So in the weeks leading up to it we were counting down the "sleeps" with Arlie until we got to ride a train through the second-longest tunnel in North America and meet Santa. Too bad neither of those things happened.
We found out while driving to the train station in Seattle that the trip had been cancelled because of a large landslide on the train tracks. We were obviously disappointed (but glad no one was hurt) and were turning around to go home until Andrew suggested we just meet Grandma and Papa, load them up into our beast of a vehicle, and drive to Leavenworth. Day saved.
I have actual photos of Andi smiling! Multiple photos. Although I love the one below where she looks unsure of the half-hug the bear is trying to give her:
So maybe we didn't get to go on a train or meet Santa but it ended up being a wonderful day. We got to Leavenworth early enough that there was still elbow room in our favorite shops and were able to enjoy a leisurely lunch, but stayed long enough to experience the comraderie that comes when thousands of people come together to celebrate the holidays.
