One of the features of the park is the tide flats. You can see them in the background here, but the first night we just stuck to the path:
There's also a perfect creek for wading and exploring:
From tide flats and creek beds to forest:
It's Harvey! Andrew came in and found me tidying up a bit. He turned to Kit and told her, "We only had to pay for a motorhome to see mommy wash a dish!" This is only funny if you know my intense hatred of doing dishes. Like, all other housework is fine - even relaxing!- but I balk at cleaning even a single plate. But in the camper even a few disorderly things make it look pretty messy so I guess I'm going to have to get used to it.
So this is what happened when these pictures were taken:
Scene: Tide flats. I had just tried crossing a creek and went way further down into the muck than anticipated. It was terrifying and I thought I was going to go all the way to my waist holding the baby. I'm only distracted from this adrenaline rush by the intense odor now emanating from my feet.
Me: (gasping and choking) Oh. My. Gaw. This smells soooo bad! Oh-
Andrew: (snickering) Why didn't you go the way I did?
Me: (trying to breathe through mouth, acutely aware that I'm now eating microscopic flecks of this disgusting smelly ooze). Gack! I'm serious! (gag) My feet! The smell! THE SMELL.
Andrew: (now outright laughing and trying to get a good angle with the camera) You need to put this on your blog! The fashion one. This could be an ad for Teva!
Me: (choke)
And scene.
It wouldn't be camping without a campfire:
Or poking said campfire with a stick.
Can you see the dangling worm that had the girls so captivated?
Andi looks so contemplative.
Monkeys!
