Reflections Lake: Icy Edition

This isn't Reflections Lake. We had a little time to kill before we met our friends so Andrew drove a little further to the Knik Arm. I got out to take photos (of course) while the rest of the family watched me from the warm car.

The actual Reflections Lake was frozen over which meant, well, no reflections. It gave the surroundings more of a chance to shine, though.

We also did the little side trail out to the wetlands. I love how the dusting of snow and the hoarfrost gives everything such dimension.

The kids really like stomping through the crust of ice. Three of them attempted to bring ice chunks back to the cars only to realize along the journey that ice melts.

Our "herd" making it's way back to the main trail.

The actual lake. We heard two huge booms when the ice cracked. None of us had ever experienced that before (except maybe Andrew), it took a few seconds for us to figure out what it was.
